First-party build note

Why VectorPoint exists.

The product problem

Turn a contentious, media-heavy subject into a research tool that preserves sources, context and uncertainty instead of flattening everything into a sensational feed.

Decisions that shaped it

  • Keep the sightings map, evidence archive and live-sky context distinct but connected
  • Treat source links, time and location as core product data
  • Make field capture useful without claiming that the app authenticates a report

Evidence today

VectorPoint is live on the App Store at version 1.09 with a global map, curated case archive, media evidence and live contextual signals.

Behind the build

How VectorPoint became a working product.

01

Architecture

VectorPoint grew into a connected research system rather than a single feed: a React Native and Expo mobile product, structured PostgreSQL data, Supabase authentication and permissions, Node services, media storage, search, mapping and geospatial delivery. The map, case archive and live-sky layers share context without collapsing different kinds of evidence into one score.

02

Reliability and trust

Provenance is part of the data model. Source links, timestamps, coordinates, media and uncertainty survive the journey from submission to display. Moderation paths, health checks, route tests and release gates protect the research experience, while cautious wording keeps contextual signals separate from claims of authentication.

03

Delivery

The work has covered mobile UX, APIs, database contracts, background services, cloud operations, map delivery, compatibility testing and Apple release management. Version 1.09 is live on the App Store; the wider system continues to be improved behind the published product.
